Crocheting Presents

It's snowing today, everyone! And it's December, so you know what that means-- it's time to make Christmas presents!

I absolutely love crocheting (have I mentioned that before?), so I try to make handmade gifts as often as I can. This year, my goal is that everyone will get a handmade gift and a store bought gift. The Lord knows it may not work out that way, but I think it's a good goal. I do have almost all the store bought gifts together, it's just finding the time to make the rest of the gifts.

Which, incidentally, it why it's nice that it's snowing today. Snow days are the perfect days to crochet, watch a movie, and snuggle under a warm blanket. So today's project was actually unplanned. I found this yarn at Michael's and thought it was so pretty and cute.

The color that I bought is a cool grey at one end and a very pretty baby blue at the other end. I'm pretty excited to see how this scarf turns out. I used the crochet pattern that was on the back of the label, which is a simple pattern for a one-ball scarf. It's twenty stitches across and half double crochets the whole time. It's a really good pattern for anyone starting, especially since the yarn changes colors throughout the process. That in itself will help keep a beginner excited.

I decided to give the pattern my own flare but doing two rows of double crochets at the very beginning of the scarf, which I will also put at the end.

Hoping that all of you are having a wonderful day. Stay warm!
