Bayside Skillet Review
Hey guys, Happy Memorial Day! This is a day for our soldiers, and a day to remember all the lives that have been given to defend us. I'm not doing anything particularly special today: no barbecue, no special get together. I did do a few things this past week that were celebratory in a way, though, which I think might be a nice way to do it. You got the celebration leading up to the day and then some solemnity on the holiday.
All this is to say that I went on vacation last week and it was fantastic. Beautiful beach, relaxing waves, lots of rain.
While I was there I ate some fantastic food (you can't beat the fries at the boardwalk) including a truly massive omelet from the Bayside Skillet.
(I thought the sign was so cute)

Look at that omelet! Massive, right? We were trying to guess how many eggs would be in there and it has to be at least half a dozen eggs. It took up more than half the plate! And yes, beside that is a crepe with strawberry jam. It is the "omelet and crepe place," after all.
The omelet that I got was the Buffalo Chicken omelet. It had buffalo chicken pieces, green onions, and cheese, with buffalo sauce on the side. I have to say: it was so. good. The chicken pieces were still crispy, even after having been cooked in an omelet. The cheese was gooey and wonderful, and the onions gave a wonderful brightness to the whole thing. The sauce tied it all together, making it that great, spicy buffalo experience. The crepe was crisp and soft at the same time with just the right amount of sweetness. The strawberry jam was just strawberry jam, though, nothing special there.
If I had to give the restaurant a rating, I'd say 4.5 out of 5. Really good food, definitely good for sharing plates. It was very busy though, so minus a half a star because we had to wait a little. All in all, worth a visit.
